Determination of pH in Soft Drinks
Measuring the pH in soft drinks is important to ensure product quality, safety, and stability.
An acidic pH (generally between 2.5 and 4) helps prevent the growth of microorganisms, prolonging the shelf life of the beverage. It also affects taste, the effectiveness of preservatives, and the stability of flavors and colors. Keeping pH under control is essential to ensuring a safe and pleasant product for the consumer.
Method
Sample treatment
Degas using the ultrasonic bath (code 222062) before taking the sample.
Principle of the test
The determination of the pH value is carried out through a colorimetric acid-base reaction in which a chemical compound, added to the matrix to be analyzed, causes a change in color. The extent of the coloration, measured at 520 nm, is related to the pH of the sample.
Calibration curve
The pH of different samples was measured using the CDR DrinkLab and the pH meter.
