Determination of Total Acidity in Soft Drinks
Measuring the acidity of soft drinks is essential to ensure taste, quality, and safety. Acidity influences flavor and contributes to the product’s stability over time. With CDR DrinkLab, it is possible to analyze Total Acidity quickly and easily through photometric reading, avoiding the traditional titration at pH 8.1 required by the reference method.
Method
Sample treatment
Degas using the ultrasonic bath (code 222062) before taking the sample.
Principle of the test
The total acidity reacts with a proper chromogen to decolorize it. The magnitude of discoloration, measured at 578 nm, is proportional to the total acidity value in the sample.
Calibration curve
The calibration curve of CDR DrinkLab, obtained using reference methods, confirms the excellent linearity of the system over the whole testing range.
