Determination of colour (Tonality and Intensity) in Vinegar
The chromatic features of a vinegar are defined by two analytical parameters: tonality and intensity. Through appropriate mathematical formulas, calculating the absorbance at 420 nm, 520 nm and 620 nm, it is possible to determine intensity and tonality values.
Method
Readings of absorbance at 420 nm, 520 nm and 620 nm
Time testing: 1 minute.
Analysis sessions with multiple samples are possible up to a maximum of 16 tests for CDR WineLab®. This analysis is not available on CDR WineLab® Junior.

Sample treatment
Use vinegar as it is. If necessary, the sample should be centrifuged (code 222061) or filtered (code 300210).
Principle of the test
Readings of absorbance at 420 nm, 520 nm and 620 nm are made on vinegar (sample as is) pre-filled into the cuvettes. The instrument automatically calculates the tonality (according to the formula Abs 420 nm/Abs 520 nm) and the intensity (according to the formula Abs 420 nm + Abs 520 nm + Abs 620 nm). The innovative CDR method makes the standard procedure easier and faster. The special photometric technology together with the provided cuvettes, enable to reach higher optical densities compared to normal spectrophotometers obviating the problems of sample dilution.
Calibration curve
Comparative tests have shown an excellent correlation on the entire measuring range with the reference method.
