Catechins are colorless phenolic compounds belonging to the group of flavan-3-oils or flavanols, which are present in numerous woody plants including the grapes. In particular the catechins are present in the skin of the grapes. These compounds are responsible of the taste and other properties, including color.
The color of white wines, in fact, depends on the oxidation state of the phenolic compounds contained.
The Analyzers CDR WineLab® for determining Catechins in Wine
The system is supplied pre-calibrated and ready for use.
Results are expressed in accordance with the reference method.
The reagents have a shelf-life untill 18 months
The analytical methods are simple: the system does not require an equipped laboratory or skilled staff.
Method
Test type: End Point.
Time testing: one test 10 minutes.
Analysis sessions with multiple samples up to a maximum of 16 are possible.
Calibration Curve
The calibration curve of the CDR WineLab® instrument, carried out comparing to the reference method, confirmed an excellent linearity of the system over the entire measurement range.
Test Principle
The test is based on the reading of the absorbance at 280nm, that is related to the absorbance of the catechins contained in the sample, diluted in a proper buffer.
Reagent test Kits
The reagents are packaged in foil pouches containing 10 tubes useful to perform 10 analyses.
This is the minimum package that allows the use of CDR systems even to those who need to make a few analyses, thus not wasting reagents.
There are also boxes of 100 tests, however, packaged in 10 bags of 10 tubes containing the reagent.
Code *300593: 10 tests
Code *300590: 100 tests
The reagents have a shelf-life of 12 months
Processing Sample
Wine: Use as is. If necessary degass the sample with proper ultrasonic bath (code 222062).
