<p>Xanthophylls are natural pigments added in poultry feed in order to set the colour of the future egg product. The test allows to determine the value of the xanthophylls in the powder added to the poultry feed with an advantageous method and with a minimum waste of food matrix.</p>

Method

<p>Weigh exactly 0,1 g of xanthophylls powder on the analytical balance, add 5 mL of dispersing solution and put in agitation for 5 minutes.</p>

Sample treatment

<p>The test is based on the photometric reading of the absorbance of the xanthophylls.</p>

<p>CDR FoodLab<sup>®</sup> method shows a very good correlation to Official Method.</p>
