Analysis of Oil Matrices with CDR FoodLab®

CDR FoodLab, the fats and oils chemical analysis system for quality and process controlseither in a laboratory or on the production lineNeotron, an italian accredited laboratory, conducted a study with the aim of comparing the repeatability of CDR FoodLab® tests in relation to the determination of the Peroxide Value and Free Fatty Acid in vegetable oil matrices with the repeatability obtained in the laboratory using ISO methods:

  • Attachment II of EEC Regulation 2568/91 for the determination of Free Fatty Acid (FFA)
  • Attachment III of EEC Regulation 2568/91 for the determination of the Peroxide Value (PV)

Methods:

  • ISO 660 for the determination of Free Fatty Acid
  • ISO 3960 for the determination of the Peroxide Value

The following oil matrices were tested:

  • Peanut oil
  • Grape seed oil
  • Olive oil
  • Rectified olive oil
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Neotron expressed the following conclusions, referred to CDR FoodLab® system. They are valid for the CDR FoodLab® method and can be assumed for CDR FoodLab® Touch as well, the new and implemented version of CDR FoodLab® system:

CDR FoodLab method validation: Neotron crredited laboratory testsThe comparison of the correlation coefficients shown in the two tables demonstrated that method ensures performances that are equivalent to those that can be obtained by using the method described in Attachment II of EEC Regulation 2568/91 for the determination of Free Fatty Acid (FFA) and the ISO 660 method, The results also show that the system is in line with the analytical tolerances applicable to test laboratories. Even for the test related to the determination of Free Fatty Acid (FFA), it was observed that, if appropriately calibrated, CDR FoodLab® enables to dose oil matrices of different origin.
These excellent analytical results along with the easiness of use and extraordinary versatility make of this system a precious tool that can be widely used whenever analytical controls are required.

With the CDR system, you can perform your tests in total autonomy

Neither skilled staff nor a dedicated external laboratory is needed to use our systems. CDR FoodLab® optimizes traditional testing methods, making them faster and easier, while guaranteeing accuracy standards in line with the reference methods.

Analytical kit

CDR FoodLab® Analysis Systems use disposable pre-vialed reagents specifically developed by the research laboratories of CDR. The use of pre-vialed reagents and the analytical procedures allow:

  • a sample preparation that is quick and easy, when needed at all;
  • making analytical procedures extremely fast and easy;
  • removing all needs for complex calibration procedures.

Reagents come in aluminum packages containing 10 test tubes each to perform 10 tests (or packages for 100 tests containing 10 single packages of 10 test tubes each).

Just a few steps and results are yielded right away

Just a few steps will suffice to carry out your analysis in a rapid way in total autonomy. The system is composed of both the analyzer based on photometric technology and a kit of low toxicity, pre-vialed reagents, developed by CDR.

CDR FoodLab® is cost-effective because it does not require the use of expensive equipment and does not entail maintenance, assistance or calibration costs.
